Focusing on The Fight Against Childhood Obesity Childhood obesity poses several threats to the next generation of community leaders and greatly impacts the families that are living with this disorder. Cardiovascular disease, high cholesterol and blood pressure levels, cigarette smoking, the presence of Diabetes (mellitus) and decreased physical activity are just some of the many obstacles families are faced with. As the U.S. government has made tackling childhood obesity a major health priority, it has encouraged families to begin implementing the recommended treatments to curb, cure and prevent childhood obesity: walking, proper diet, increased social interaction with family and friends, and yes . . . rollerskating.
Skatemasters Plan Of Action - SMUSA Health & Wellness Initiatives Over the next two years, Skatemasters USA & Junior Skatemasters will introduce a series of special events and promotions to raise awareness among children and adults of the dangers of being overweight and how they can tackle childhood obesity through rollerskating. It is through these special events and promotions Junior Skatemasters will address the following issues:
Setting goals for weight loss
Dietary management via invited guests and specialists
